MediFast Diet
The Medifast diet has been around for a number of decades and was formally only prescribed by physicians. Now, it can be ordered online. It is one of the few diets which has been clinically tested by Johns Hopkins University and shown to provide substantial weight loss (around 60 pounds average weight loss in men and women). The Medi fast plan is also known as the "5 and 1 plan" because the plan consists of 5 meal replacements, and one "actual" meal which is mostly made up of lean protein and vegetables. The daily calorie dose of this plan is 800-1000. Even though this is a low calorie diet, and I don't usually support such diets, the Medifast diet has provided results for a lot of people. However, I don't suggest this diet for everyone. I believe that this diet plan is good for people who need to lose a lot of weight, at least 50 pounds. Indeed, this diet isn't easy to follow due to the low amount of calories. You should also know that low intensity exercise is recommended with this diet. Different Plans The Medi fast diet provides different versions of its plan to men, women, and diabetes patients. On the subject of diabetes it is worth to note that the Medifast diet was shown to be very effective for type 2 diabetes patients. You should know that going off the Medifast diet requires discipline and commitment to prevent the weight from coming back. To read more about the Medifast diet, click here. |
